Since about 1988 Monte and Barbara Cady have been writing role playing mystery games with the idea of having fun with a group
of friends in a wholesome way. Other such games they had tried had such suggestive plots and slimy characters that they didn't
really enjoy playing. So they set out to write a better murder mystery, and along the way found madness, mayham, and a whole
lot of fun. Monte is a retired banker (Note: lots of our games have bankers in them, usually unscrupulous) and for many
years Barbara was a stay at home mom. They live in the Pacific Northwest near many of their 10 children (and their families).
Through the years they kept writing and testing and throwing parties. They found that they enjoyed playing their own games
as did their friends. They tested them all many times and appreciated their growing circle of friends who were eager to help
with testing. They figured the games were good when acquaintances began asking if they could come to the parties, and the
checkout clerk at the grocery store noticed the name on the check and commented about the games. Then they began to get requests
from people who wanted to host their own parties.
In 1993 Whodunnit Mystery Games put their first games on the internet, and it has been an amazing experience since. Whodunnit
Mystery Games now sells games world wide, and they enjoy talking to many of their customers about the mystery parties they
have thrown.
Whodunnit Mystery games are very popular with family reunions, team building exercises, church youth groups, bed and breakfasts,
wedding parties (don't ask!), and just fun get-together's of many, many groups of friends. Along the years Whodunnit has branched
into their very popular all girl and teen mystery party games, specifically tailored for slumber parties, teen youth groups
and any groups of teens who want to get together and have some fun.
Now 20 years later, Monte and Barbara are including
(have roped) several of their children in the family
business. Monte and Barbara have decided to retire
and live the high life and have left the bulk of
running the business to their daughter, Susan.
Although you can see the work of many children in
many aspects of the company - from design, to web
development, to optimization, and even a little bit
of creative writing! They now sit back and
giggle wickedly as they hear us talk of Whodunnit
and running the business. Monte and Barbara are
still working on production and in the process of
writing new murder and non-murder mystery games,
many of which will be coming out soon, but have left
all the rest of the mundane parts of running a
business up to us.
Who know's what the future may hold? Ask us in a few years and maybe we'll have an idea. Until then, we'll look for you at
one of our parties.
