Story Summary
Harriet Stone was a woman who enjoyed life and adventure.
She had divorced Robert Stone 10 years ago after he was
unwilling to subordinate his career to hers. They were the
parents of two children, Eugene "Rocky" Stone and Susan
Stone Green.
Harriet was the President of "I Grow" (net worth $4.2 million)
a rapidly expanding company which has the formula for a
working hair restorative. In fact, it is a permanent cure
for baldness. "I Grow" is being courted by several large
drug and cosmetic companies and the rumors have it that
Harriet has been offered at least $8 million in cash for
the company. As the sole owner, she would make a bundle.
On Wednesday, Harriet's body was found laying across the
dinner table with a stab in her back. There was no evidence
of a struggle, but Harriet did have a look of great anguish
on her face.
The police suspect foul play and with an estate of millions
of dollars, people are even suspecting the cat next door.
If you get too close to solving the murder during the party,
you may want to watch what you eat and drink for a while.

Harriet Stone was a woman in her 50s that
enjoyed life and adventure. She had divorced Robert Stone 10 years
ago after he was unwilling to subordinate his career to hers. They
were the parents of two children, a boy Eugene "Rocky" Stone and a
girl Susan Stone Green.
Harriet was the president of "I Grow" (net worth $4.2 million), a
rapidly expanding company which has the formula for a working hair
restorative. In fact, it is a permanent cure for baldness.
"I Grow" is being courted by several large drug and cosmetic
companies, and the rumors have it that Harriet has been offered at
least $8 million in cash for the company. As the sole owner, she
would make a bundle.
Harriet liked to entertain and was felt to be a social climber. Her
childhood days on an Oklahoma feedlot have left their mark.
It is now Saturday. Wednesday, Harriet's body was found laying
across the dinner table, a wound by a sharp instrument in her back,
noticeable by a small hole and a slight amount of blood. The time of
death was set at 4:47 PM, based on a mantle clock found laying on
the floor, no longer running (just laying around). There was no
evidence of a struggle, but Harriet did have a look of great anguish
on her face. The discovery of the body was made by Ms. Francine
Baker at approximately 6:45 PM, Wednesday, July 9th.
During the preliminary investigation, glass was found lying outside
on the back porch from a broken window pane in the back door. More
investigation revealed that it appears that several paintings were
missing from the walls, as well as a VCR and television set. The bed
room was ransacked with the jewelry case turned upside down. The
police have no idea if any jewelry is missing. On the small desk in
the bed room was found a copy of a Visa statement for $4890.00 in
new purchases in the past month. The name has been left off the
statement. A crumpled race track betting ticket was found under one
corner of the bed.
Also on the desk was a draft document to set up a trust with "Save
the Whales and Porpoises" as the beneficiary. The amount of the
trust was to be $6 million.
The police suspect foul play and have called all of you to a meeting
tonight so they can ask some questions. You want to solve the case
quickly so you can go home early. You hate to miss the late news and
the talk shows. They are so stimulating. Surely you have some
questions to ask and can help move things along. |
